The latest format war is over and SONY’s Blu-ray DVD disc (also known as BD) is the clear winner.

JGS is pleased to offer the exciting new Blu-ray DVD format. Although Blu-ray was initially developed for the entertainment industry, this format is now available to HD production industry professionals and is quickly gaining popularity. As Blu-ray players continue to drop drastically in price Blu-ray will become more popular and eventually surpass and replace traditional DVD.

Our professional disc makers and authoring pros know the ins and out of this brilliant and complex new format. Imagine your sales conference or marketing promotion with full Dolby 5:1 surround sound and pristine HD video and 3D graphics. It is also ideal for museums and permanent displays and kiosks.

The disc has the same dimensions as a standard  DVD or CD, but unlike traditional DVD, Blu-ray DVD plays high definition video at its optimal resolution. Beside playing HD video, Blu-ray discs can also be used for large data storage.

The name Blu-ray disc is derived from the blue laser used to read and write this type of disc. Substantially more data can be stored on a Blu-ray disc than on the standard DVD format, which uses a lower density red laser. A dual layer Blu-ray disc can store as much as 50 GB, almost six times the capacity of a standard dual layer DVD… also known as a DVD-9.
